HAKI acquires british Vertemax

HAKI, a company in the listed Malmö group Midway Holding, has acquired all the shares in the British company Vertemax, which complements HAKI in an excellent way, mainly around solutions for safe work at height. Vertemax's turnover has increased strongly in recent years and amounted to approximately SEK 180 million in 2020.

We have been in contact with Vertemax for a long time and it is very gratifying that we have been able to come to an end under the prevailing circumstances. Vertemax has a strong product portfolio that fits well with global trends in the form of tougher legislation around occupational safety and meets the increased demand for fall protection and protective screens.

- Thomas Schüller, HAKI's CEO

Vertemax mainly develops, sells and markets safety products for work at height. The UK is the largest market where London dominates and the main focus is new construction. Canada has shown strong growth in recent years, and Vertemax recently opened a sales office in Bratislava, Slovakia, to process Eastern Europe.

We look forward to becoming part of Midway and are confident that this strategically important step will enable us to create even more value for our customers. With our joint expertise and services, we create a good platform for continued growth.

- Gary Taylor, Vertemax CEO and founder

We see good synergy opportunities through Vertemax and HAKI being able to jointly develop their joint markets and on the cost side through, above all, joint utilization of logistics capacity. In the longer term, the acquisition creates opportunities for us to join and consolidate a fragmented niche market.

- Thomas Schüller, HAKI's CEO

The acquisition strengthens the opportunities for organic growth by launching Vertemax products to HAKI's customers in Scandinavia and HAKI's products to Vertemax's customers in Great Britain, as well as by Vertemax and HAKI jointly marketing their offerings in Eastern Europe.

Vertemax was founded in 2010 and today has around 35 employees. The company is headquartered in Aylesham in the south east of the UK, with development in neighboring Canterbury. Sales offices are located in Toronto, Canada, and Bratislava, Slovakia.
